It has taken almost two years, and several months of trying but I was finally able to put them in, and she left them in, ALL DAY! I had to do a little maintenance a few times, but she was soo proud of herself for leaving them in. She's just soo cute (its okay for Mom's to say that like a bazillion times about their kid right?!)

I love the pigtails! I too did not grow hair very quickly as a child... so I sympathize. I think I also did not leave hair-do's in, and I think my mom hated it :)
